Former Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic mentor Frank Vogel will be the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN reported, citing a source. The 45-year-old`s contract is for three seasons and will include Jason Kid, who will be his lead assistant coach. Vogel`s name surprisingly hit the horizon after the Lakes `leadership failed to reach an agreement with either of the two top experts he was interested in - Monty Williams opted for Phoenix Suns` offer while the former Cleveland mentorThe Cavaliers Tyrone Lou disagreed with his terms.




Vogel began his coaching career as an assistant at the Boston Celtics in 2001. During the 2004/05 season, he was an assistant in the Philadelphia 76ers and between 2007 and 2011 was at the Indiana Pacers headquarters. In 2011, he led the Walkers twice and led them to the Eastern Conference Finals twice - in 2013 and 2014, where the team inevitably lost to Miami Heath.

Coal was released by Indiana in 2016, but immediately signed with Orlando. However, for his two seasons in Florida, he has not achieved more serious success, reaching 29 and 25 wins in the regular season. His performance as a senior coach in his career so far is 304 wins and 291 losses in the regular season, as well as 31 wins and 30 playoff losses.
